Dr. William (Bill) Dodson, M.D., LF-APA, is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and has spent his career helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes from ADHD treatment.

Dr. Dodson’s pioneering description of ADHD as the result of a distinct, but fully functional Interest-based Nervous System counters the once-prevailing view of ADHD as simply a deficiency of a “typical” brain. Further, he has been instrumental in advancing the field’s understanding of ADHD medication optimization, ADHD-related sleep disorders, and the emotional component of ADHD, most notably through his recognition of Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (“RSD”) as a core feature.

His work with patients with highly complex psychiatric needs has earned him international acclaim. Dr. Dodson was proudly inducted into the Children and Adults with ADHD (CHADD) Hall of Fame in 2025.

He has written more than 120 articles and produced 17 webinars for ADDitude and the Attention Deficit Disorder Association. He is a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and serves on ADDitude’s Medical Advisory Panel.

This resource library contains intake materials, educational materials, and dosing instructions needed for good medical practice with ADHD. It should always be remembered that at the beginning all of our patients will have untreated ADHD. They will all struggle to stay engaged with what we are saying and the instructions for optimizing the medication part of treatment. This can be complicated and even more difficult if the patient cannot remember what to do no matter how hard they try.
